Senior Manager, Hire Local DC
Organizational Overview: CityWorks DC’s mission is to dramatically improve the early career outcomes of DC youth and young adults by creating innovative programs and by mobilizing employers, educators, and city leaders to create a local, diverse talent pipeline. Hire Local DC (HLDC), a coalition led by CityWorks DC (CWDC) and the Federal City Council (FC2), is focused on achieving two inextricably linked goals:
- Youth and young adults of our city are prepared for, hired into, and succeeding in the good jobs we have in our city and region.
- Local employers and industries are confidently relying on local talent to meet their workforce needs.
HLDC believes it is necessary to mobilize, catalyze, and support industry leaders to collectively address their local talent pipeline challenges to achieve these two goals. To date, HLDC has launched two Sector Partnerships: one in Construction (DC Builds DC), and one in Hospitality (HLDC Hospitality Sector Partnership). The combination of convening stakeholders through the sector partnerships and continuous learning has led to positive impacts for DC students and residents.
CityWorks DC, on behalf of HLDC, is launching the DC Skilled Trades Initiative to dramatically increase the number of DC residents who are in, prepared for, and successfully pursuing Registered Apprenticeships in the Skilled Trades. In partnership with local education agencies (LEAs), schools, employers, registered apprenticeship programs, training providers, and other DC government agencies, the Initiative will accelerate and deepen the District-wide career development efforts at the State, LEA, and school levels.
